Our History

COHRE is a professional consulting firm with a wide range of human resources expertise including but not limited to recruitment and selection; job analysis and performance evaluation; training; strategic planning and leadership development; performance management; organizational development; and related legal issue

COHRE was created as an independent consulting unit in 2003. It was designed to be an extension of the educational mission of the Industrial and Organizational Psychology graduate program, as well as Middle Tennessee State University’s mission of developing a collaborative relationship with businesses and nonprofits within the local community.

In the time that it has existed, COHRE has already provided services to an impressive range of clients that span a variety of industries. COHRE’s unique position as both an affiliate of MTSU and as a resource to the local community enables it to serve as a portal to the resources that the university has to offer, as well as the knowledge and experience of external consultants and alumni.

Although COHRE is affiliated with MTSU, it is a self-sustaining entity. Profits that it gains are used to benefit the educational mission of the Industrial and Organizational Psychology graduate program and the educational mission of the university. Because of these educational connections, COHRE is on the cutting edge of developments within the Industrial and Organizational Psychology field, which translates to both innovative and scientifically validated solutions for its clients.

COHRE’s affiliated Industrial and Organizational Psychology graduate program has been ranked by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology as the top I-O Master’s program in the nation. Similarly, the  MTSU chapter of Society for Human Resource Management was named a National Outstanding Student Chapter for 2016-2017. These nationwide recognitions underscore the value of MTSU’s I/O program.

This program draws top talent from around the globe and COHRE utilizes these individuals to work as project associates in consulting projects – many of whom have prior work experience in the human resources or related field. Furthermore, COHRE integrates nationally acclaimed professionals from its MTSU affiliation with a selective group of collaborative private consultants. Each consultant typically brings over 20 years of experience in creating human resources and organizational development solutions.
