Center for Organizational and Human Resource Effectiveness

Training and Development

Effective training plays a huge role in the functioning of an organization. Individuals with the right skill set, knowledge base, and interpersonal abilities can make a good company become a great company. The best way to improve skills, knowledge, and abilities is through a program of directed learning – in other words, training.

Training can take a number of different forms, from orientation of the newest entry-level employee to leadership development for the highest-ranking executives in an organization. Because it has such a broad range of potential topics, COHRE does not use just one approach to creating and administering training. Our training is tailored to the specific needs of the organization and the people that receive it.

COHRE uses a scientifically grounded, research-based approach to developing new training or determining an organization’s current needs. The first step in any training project is to establish the training needs of individuals within specific job positions. Once needs have been isolated, research is done on the competencies and best practices for each need and a comprehensive model is created.

The model is then used as the basis for training modules. The end result is a training program that is customized to the needs of the organization and backed with scientific research. Because our training is customized and researched, the transfer of knowledge from a training setting to real-world application is expected to be higher than a more generalized, mass-marketed approach.

Some of the potential training projects that COHRE has to offer are listed below. This is by no means a comprehensive list; if your organization has a more specialized need, we can design training to meet it.

  • Analyzing Training Needs
  • Leadership Development
  • New Hire Orientation
  • Legal Issues
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Team-Building

Well-trained, effective employees are a large part of keeping an organization competitive. Training can be used to fix deficits, but it can also be used to improve areas in which your organization already thrives. Customized, effective training can be the best way to maximize your organization’s true potential.
